With this release note we welcome San Diego, whose payroll we're now
running at UCOP, to the cmppay-l community, and it's a particularly fitting
release because the problem it addresses was uncovered during the SD
Payroll migration process.
The campus, and I at UCOP, compiled program PPP855, which reverse
converts selected DB2 control table data into the old VSAM/restore
format that is still required by the Benefits Counseling System. There was
no immediately visible problem, but it was discovered that an extra two
bytes/characters were inserted in the middle of the DOS table record,
pushing all fields to the right two columns out of position.
PPP855 was issued in r1434 and never modified since, however copymember
CPWSXDOS which describes DOS table data and is used by PPP855,
had federal and state indicators added in r1503 for the flat tax on bonuses.
That works fine for the rest of PPS, but not for PPP855. To address this
problem, r1582 hard codes the correct DOS data layout and discontinues
use of the CPWSXDOS copymember.
There are no table updates.
Until this release is installed, PPP855 can not be recompiled.
Ok to proceed?
