Release 1551 makes additional changes to 1042-S processing. (R1533
issued the 2003 PSF forms overlay code and removed an edit on name
for income codes 12 and 16.)
Here are some of the r1551 changes. Details can be found in the release
letter.
- The descriptions of the 1042-S contact phone numbers are slightly changed.
Note that there are two distinct possible numbers. One is for the T record
and the other is for the W (agent) record in the tax data file, each of
which
consists of submitter information rather than employee data. They can be
the same or different. I checked to see how they're set up now:
DV - both are filled in and are the same
RV - the regular contact number is filled in; agent phone number is
blank
SC - both are filled in and are the same ** Don, you may want us to
change
the 1042-S contact info as it currently points to Richard
Anderson.
SB - both are filled in and are the same
AS - both are filled in and are the same
HA - both contain dummy, Base values, but we've never done 1042-S
processing for Hastings.
- There are changes to the province code table for Canada
- "The Recipient's U.S. Tin Type has a new value "0" which is equal to
"No Tin Required"."
- If recipient code is 20, program PP1042SE will no longer issue an error
message when state code is blank, and program PP1042SI will no longer
issue error messages when various address fields are blank.
There are no table updates.
Installation of r1551 is date-mandated to occur in time for 1042-S
processing. Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara, as they don't expect to
issue the 1042-S tax data file created by PPS, opted to proceed without
the release. Regardless of the current status of local 1042-S processing,
or if it's even performed, this release must be implemented for all sites.
Ok to install?
