Release 1547 modifies checkwrite program PPP420 in support of a new
Wells Fargo Bank "Positive Pay Service that permits WFB tellers to
confirm the payee name when cashing a payroll check. This feature
allows for added fraud protection for the employee and the University."
It does this by adding employee name to the Reconciliation file.
Note that this is a Wells Fargo feature only, and to determine whether
it should be applied, PPP420 interrogates system parameter 54, which
will have 3 legal values: '0' will identify sites banking with WFB, '1'
will identify sites for which the Recon file is not to be created (none),
and '2' will identify non-WFB sites (currently ASUCLA and Hastings)
that do create Recon files.
Right now, parameter 54 is set to '0' for all of our sites, and thus
no table update is required for the campuses. For ASUCLA, which
uses Bank of America, we'll need to change it to '2'. For Hastings,
given that you'll shortly be switching from Union Bank to WFB,
I suggest that we delay implementation until the cutover and fold it
in with the other bank-necessitated PPP420 changes.
Ok to install?
