Release 1475 addresses several HCRA issues based on real
world experience:
- Programs PPEA006 and PPEM107, both dealing with separations,
are modified to establish a HCRA termination date only when the
employee is enrolled in HCRA.
- PPEM338 is modified to also initialize the BRS effective date for
GTN 338 (HCRA) whenever the corresponding G-balance is
initialized. Previously the effective date was left in place for
SHPS reporting, but GTN editing expects both or neither to be
present and, per the release letter, the edit error can block the
update of other unrelated GTN's.
- PPEG338 performs HCRA consistency edits and contains logic
that blocks implied maintenance when errors are encountered.
In r1475, that blocking is bypassed if the program being executed
is PPP130, i.e., the transactions being processed are from IVR/web
and are presumed to be correct. This particular modification
came about as a result of Santa Cruz (and other campuses)
abending when processing an IVR/web transaction with a HCRA
effective date earlier than the HCRA termination date that was
already in the EDB for the employee.
A one-time cleanup program, PPOT1475, is issued to remove HCRA
effective dates from the BRS table and initialize termination dates in the
BEN table for employees who are not currently enrolled. A control report
giving the counts of deleted/initialized employees is produced.
There are no table updates.
Although marked as "not urgent", the release letter recommends that
r1475 be installed as soon as possible. It could save us some
production abends and protect you from blocking of unrelated GTN
updates. Ok to install?
