Release 1664 provides the first phase of enhancements
to the pay advices now available to employees on the UCFY
web site. The long term intent is that sites will have the option,
if they wish, to direct their employees to the web to obtain their
earnings information and cease to print paper statements for
them except for those individuals who opt out. This has the
potential to save money by reducing distribution costs.

In this first phase, the only change is to checkwrite program
PPP420, to create a new data file for employees currently
enrolled in the Direct Deposit program that will be used to
produce 'online earnings statements' (OES), replacing the
current online advices. Initially these new files will be used
by the ESI group for testing, that is, you won't immediately
see a change in UCFY after we install the release.

An interesting feature of the new OES is that it will
replicate the format of each site's regular paper advices.
UCFY won't be able to provide local print overlays and
therefore will substitute a standardized heading, but other
than that, they should look like what your employees are
accustomed to receiving, whether it's one of the two laser
print formats or even data mailers. We recommend use
of the 'new' laser format, as it provides the most information
to employees, but I have been told that even the data mailer
format will work for OES. ASUCLA and SB use data mailers,
and it's our understanding that SB is looking into switching
to laser print.

There are no table updates for r1664.

May we have your ok to install?
