Although notified by SilverPlatter that the cause of the record display
problem had been corrected, it turns out that only part of the cause had
been fixed. Preliminary testing at CDL indicated that the display
problem had been corrected. It was only after the database was made
available again and was in wider use that it became apparent that the
complete display problem had not been resolved to our satisfaction.

Consequently, the web and telnet versions of the MLA International
Bibliography database (SilverPlatter) are again temporarily unavailable. We
will continue working with SilverPlatter to resolve the problem to our
complete satisfaction as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, the Ovid version of the MLA International Bibliography
database is available at:

http://gateway.ovid.com/ovidweb.cgi?T=JS&MODE=ovid&NEWS=N&PAGE=main&D=mlab

The Ovid version is available from on-campus (UC IP networks) and via the
proxy servers. This version is not accessible using a CDL database password.

Note: When using any of the Ovid databases, please be advised that when a
session has been logged off or timed out, the "Welcome to Ovid" screen
which displays indicates that in order to start a new session, the user
must enter a user ID and password before pressing the "Start Ovid" button.
This is not the case.

Users on valid UC networks only need press the Start Ovid button to begin a
new session.

Please share this information with your colleagues. We will send another
CDL Alert when access to the SilverPlatter version of MLA resumes.
