>Subject: IEEE Xplore Hosting Center Migration in December
>Date: Mon, 2 Dec 2002 17:46:00 -0500
>
>In December, IEEE will migrate the IEEE Xplore (R) host site from the IHS
>location in Denver, CO, to a new site hosted within the IEEE operations
>center in Piscataway, NJ, a move that will be transparent to IEEE online
>users. Links to the IEEE Xplore home page and library OPAC links that use
>the IEEE standard URL linking prefix (see
>http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplore/opac.jsp) will not be affected by this
>move. However, IEEE online users should note that any other pages that
>have been bookmarked within the IEEE Xplore site, including specific
>documents, will need to be updated following this transition. Libraries
>should notify their users in advance of this change.
>
>IEEE is taking all measures to ensure a smooth transition to the new
>hosting site, including a comprehensive series of stress, functional and
>quality tests. IEEE has also arranged for expanded hours of IEEE technical
>support on the day of the move and will have a fully functional backup
>system available.
>
>Benefits of this move to a new IEEE Xplore host site in the IEEE NJ office
>include a more flexible data architecture that supports product and
>feature development and facilitates content updates.
>
>The new IEEE Xplore host site migration is planned for December; currently
>this is scheduled to happen around December 16, 2002. For more
>information such as the exact date this will occur, contact
