Release 1588 is labelled as the second phase of the PAR expansion
process that was begun in r1571 but addresses other issues as well,
all in the area of online SPCL processing, that is, rush checks and ORCA.
The release documents go on at length about the changes in detail, but
here are some high points:
- The data type of entry sequence numbers in abeyance tables ABD and
ABE is changed. It's mainly a technical change, but it will make it
possible to use larger numbers than in the past. There should be
no local issues as a consequence because we don't send you abeyance
data.
- Programs and copymembers are modified to support up to 500 earnings
occurrences, up from 99, just as we saw for the PAR in r1571.
- Many of the SPCL screens displayed PF8 at the bottom even when
scrolling forward was not possible. That error is corrected.
- Earlier releases removed display of SSN from screen headers, but
rush check and ORCA screens also included SSN in the body of the
screens. These are removed in R1588 as a continuation of the effort
to protect personal identity information.
- An assortment of screen misbehavior, e.g., disappearing data and getting
stuck, is corrected.
- In some cases, page numbers were removed, and in others, they were
reformatted.
