Release 1557 introduces a new deduction for the BX (Academic Student
Employees) collective bargaining unit, specifically:

   GTN 483, as a sponsored political action contribution

One copymember (CPWSXIC2) and one program (PPCTBUFE) are
modified to support this new deduction and must be installed for all sites.

TABLE UPDATES

   These are not required for ASUCLA or Hastings, as they do not have
a BX collective bargaining contract.  For the campuses:

- A transaction is provided for production use to link code 'B' to the
   UAW organization in the collective bargaining table.

- Template transactions are provided to establish GTN 483, but must be
   modified for each site.  These can be viewed on the release web site in
   document 'gtnprod.pdf'.  Possible variations, for which we'll need
   instructions, are:

       1 - local priority number

       2 - liability fau, definitely for Davis and Riverside

       3 - Per the installation document,  "Note that the YTD balance indicator
           in column 35 (transaction type 1) is set to 'Y'; campuses should
           change the 'Y' to a 'P' if the Expanded Surepay statement is
           generated in the Compute."  I believe this would apply to Riverside
           and Santa Cruz, but would appreciate confirmation.  (Hastings also
           uses the Expanded Surepay statement, but will not be establishing
           this deduction.)

       4 - As usual, you'll want to review the display flags in columns 67-70
           of the type 2 transaction for appropriateness.  Unless you instruct
           us otherwise, we'll go with the settings in the template
transactions.

IMPLEMENTATION

   R1557 is designated as date-mandated, to be installed "after all computes
for March Earnings have already run and before the first compute for April
earning<s> is run.  In addition this release must be installed after all
March month-end reportings have run and before April Month-end
reportings are run."  That means next week is an appropriate time
to install.
