9:43 AM, 29 January 2015  Latest update to yesterday’s CDLALERT: Current problems with some OCLC services

While CDL continues to work with OCLC to resolve the search problems in the campus Melvyl (WCL) instances, Basic Search now searches the WorldCat.org database only.  This means that the results from the 80+ Central Index databases (displayed from the Advanced Search screen) that are usually included in standard search results are not included at this time.  This is a temporary solution until the underlying cause of the WCL search problems can be resolved.

Users that wish to include the results from the Central Index databases in their searches will need to do an Advanced Search and select the databases they want included.

Here’s how:

1.       Click the Advanced Search link on the home page.

2.       Click the Add / Remove databases >> button.

3.       Select the desired databases and then click the Save Selections button at the bottom of the screen.

4.       Enter your search terms on the Advanced Search screen and click Search.

We will continue to provide updates to this situation as information becomes available.  Please share this information with your colleagues.
