As 2021 winds to a close, WEST has been busy working on a variety of matters, including end-of-year meetings and reviews, preparing for 2022, and continuing work on the upcoming collections analysis. We look forward to another productive year in 2022, and wish everyone very happy holidays!

⮚      2022 WEST Executive Election Results, Affirmation of the WEST Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles, and OCC Appointments: WEST carried out elections for the Executive Committee and to affirm the program’s new Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles between November 16, 2021 and December 10, 2021. A quorum of 51% was surpassed to approve the 2022 Executive Committee slate and affirm the new WEST Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles. Additionally, the WEST Executive Committee has confirmed the 2022 OCC roster. ⮚      CCH Summit: The CDL, CRL, and HathiTrust Shared Print Collaboration held a Summit in early December to bring together library service providers, the shared print community, and library leaders and domain experts to discuss the current state of shared print and future directions for embedding shared print in each stage of the collections lifecycle. Over 90 representatives from over 65 organizations attended the two-day Summit. ⮚      Rosemont Alliance Executive Committee Annual Meeting: The Rosemont Alliance Executive Committee held its annual ‘in person’ meeting virtually on December 6. The Executive Committee received updates from the Operations Committee, discussed and approved updated strategic directions for 2022-2024, and discussed preliminary impressions and implications of the CCH Summit (held December 1-2, 2021). ⮚      Spotlight on AGUA Development: Enhancing Local Discovery of Shared Collections: One of the AGUA Development Phase 5 projects offers a first step to solving ongoing challenges to connecting local users to collective collections by creating a way for WEST members to bring the WEST archived collections into their local systems for public display or local staff analysis. Read on for more details about this development project and to learn how to retrieve the file for local use.

 

⮚      WEST Cycles 12 & 13 Unarchived Holdings Ingest is Complete! WEST members submitted files of unarchived holdings for 58 OCLC symbols to held seed the WEST Cycles 12 & 13 collections analysis, completing the first crucial step of the new archiving cycle.
