Thank you so much for listening to my presentation and for the feedback and questions.
I won't be able to leave the prototype (and associated pages) running for long, but here is a link to the slides I presented today:
Hi all,
I really appreciate being able to join the CKG and present on this new search prototype I have been working on.
In case anyone wants to have a look in advance of the meeting, I have temporarily deployed the prototype (provisionally named UC Collect) on
https://d2d-collect-dev.cdlib.org/. Keep in mind that this is very far from being a production-ready application and is only for demonstration purposes. In particular:
- The
about page describes the basic idea of the application.
- The
features page describes some possible future directions for the app.
- The UI is extremely rudimentary and the "look and feel" of a production version would likely be entirely different.
- The default search source is Semantic Scholar. You can also search using OpenAlex, but you will get incomplete results.
- Nothing is saved to a database -- it is only kept alive during a session. So if you get a search result and come back an hour later, you may get an error.
- All library links go to UC Berkeley; in a production version it would like to the user's library.
Have fun, and I look forward to presenting on this tomorrow.
