Agreed. It always amazes me that authors are willing to be bled dry or expect the library to open a vein as well (metaphors in the spirit of the season). In response to IEEE we had a faculty member who is an editor on an IEEE journal contact us begging the library to pay the APCs and I guess page charges too? How about don’t charge them?! We've heard about at least one university press who is now reaching back out to previously-published book authors and seeing if they want to make their decade-old book open access (for a significant fee).
