Hi all,

I just worked with an author willing to review his agreement and he even had his original 2009 and 2011 contracts that the retrospective OA referred to.

Has anyone else come across these and with any other publisher? I suspect we’ll be seeing more of these, yet another way to profit from OA!

Dear Allegra,

Scholars in humanities and social sciences often struggle to secure funding for open access publishing, even though their research is crucial in addressing global issues.

Retrospective Open Access offers a cost effective way to increase the impact and accessibility of your institution’s research by converting previously published articles to open access.

Benefits of Retrospective OA:

  • Cost effective - converting existing publications to open access allows institutions to selectively open important content with appealing discounts.
  • Raise the profile of under-supported research – open access publications have a broader readership and higher downloads.
  • Improve accessibility of access for published scholarship – open access articles can be read by anyone, anywhere.
