As WEST wraps up work on the 2019 Strategic Recommendations and prepares for the next AGUA development phase we have been taking stock of the work we’ve done over the last few years and establishing the work that’s ahead of us. This month’s WESTinfo Newsletter focuses on the work we’ve accomplished, with refresher information about WEST and the Rosemont Shared Print Alliance and Partnership for Shared Book Collections (Rosemont’s sister federation of shared print monograph programs).

Please follow the links below to check out the full posts on the WESTinfo blog.

⮚ WEST Program Reflections – Progress on WEST 2019 Strategic Directions and 2021 Year-In-Review: In 2019 the WEST governance groups met in Oakland, CA, to define strategic recommendations to guide WEST’s work over the next three years. Read on<https://cdlib.org/cdlinfo/2022/03/08/west-program-reflections-progress-on-west-2019-strategic-directions-and-2021-year-in-review/> for more details about the strategic recommendations and WEST’s progress acting on them, as well as an overview of key program activities in 2021.

⮚ WEST Program Refresher: WEST hosted a program refresher and info session on WEST archiving. This session provided an overview of the WEST program and its goals as well as an introduction to the archiving process, and serves as a solid introduction to the program for any new staff or anyone who wants to become reacquainted with WEST’s work. Read on<https://cdlib.org/cdlinfo/2022/01/28/west-program-refresher/> for more details and links to the presentation recording and slide deck.

⮚ Report from the Joint Rosemont Shared Print Alliance / Partnership for Shared Book Collections Member Meeting: The Rosemont Shared Print Alliance and the Partnership for Shared Book Collections held their first annual joint membership meeting Feb 8, 2022. This meeting was grounded in an overarching theme that “Shared Print is open and big,” and featured introductory remarks, a panel discussion, and breakout rooms where participants discussed specific topics of interest to the shared print and library communities. Read on<https://cdlib.org/cdlinfo/2022/02/24/report-from-the-joint-rosemont-shared-print-alliance-partnership-for-shared-book-collections-member-meeting/> for more details and links to the meeting recording and notes.

⮚ AGUA Development Phase 5 Final Report: From January through September 2021, WEST engaged in systems development work to enhance and extend AGUA’s analysis capabilities and provide value back to members. Read on<https://cdlib.org/cdlinfo/2022/01/28/agua-development-phase-5-final-report/> for more details and a link to the Phase 5 final report.

⮚ Spotlight on Development: Metadata Validation: One of the major projects WEST undertook in 2021 to enhance AGUA was a project to improve metadata validation practices to support more rigorous data analysis by the AGUA Technical Team and to report back findings to WEST members to support local cleanup projects. To accomplish these goals, the AGUA team adopted a Metadata Validator developed by the Center for Research Libraries. The AGUA team has completed an analysis of the validator findings. Read on<https://cdlib.org/cdlinfo/2022/03/09/spotlight-on-agua-development-metadata-validation/> for more details and a link to the report.

All the best,

The WEST Project Team
