The fall is always a busy time for WEST, and 2021 is no exception. WEST has closed out Cycle 10 archiving and is now preparing for the Cycles 12 & 13 collections analysis.

⮚      Updates to the WEST Executive Committee Composition and Candidacy: In 2021, the WEST Executive Committee reviewed WEST’s governance documentation and made two updates to the Executive Committee’s composition and candidacy parameters to expand the range of perspectives that shape WEST’s strategic directions and to further enhance the connection between WEST’s operational and strategic decision-making. ⮚      WEST Cycles 12 & 13 Call for Unarchived Holdings: WEST is getting ready to identify the next round of archiving priorities for archiving Cycles 12 & 13!  We are therefore asking all WEST Members (Full and Supporting) to provide MARC bibliographic and holdings data for your currently held, unarchived, print format journals to seed the upcoming collections analysis. ⮚      Cycle 10 (2021) Collection Comparison Reports: WEST members have completed disclosure of their Cycle 10 (2021) archiving activities. New yearly collection comparison reports have been generated for all full members that participated in the Cycles 10/11 collections analysis; the updated disclosure information is also now available in the All Archived Titles report as well as the On Demand Collection Comparison report. ⮚      Notes from WEST’s July 2021 Member Meeting: WEST’s 2021 summer member meeting was held virtually on July 29. The WEST project team provided a brief refresher on the WEST program as well as updates on key program activities, and the bulk of the meeting was devoted to a presentation and discussion led by Roger Schonfeld of Ithaka S+R on the value and challenges of library collaboration. ⮚      New Publications of Note: The past several months have seen a flurry of new publications focused on the historical and ongoing evolution of print management in libraries, including a new book from ALA Editions edited by colleagues at WEST member and Archive Builder Arizona State University.
